Mary Camden - National Board Certified
Mary graduated with a B.S. from Northwestern State University in 1985. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood. Mary began her teaching career at St. Joseph's School in 1985 and continued in Bossier Parish at Curtis Elementary in 1990. She has taught fifth grade ELA at South Highlands since 2008. In Bossier Parish she assisted in obtaining 8G Grants for technology to improve school-wide instruction. She has also obtained grants to increase classroom activities to improve instruction. She is a member of ADK, a teaching sorority. Mary and her husband Mike have three children: Michael (and his wife Danielle), Emily (and her husband Trevor), and Caroline. In her free time, Mary enjoys spending time with her grandsons, Henry and Camden!

Julia Smith - National Board Certified
Julia Smith graduated in 1988 with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from LSUS. She started her teaching career at Barret Elementary where she also served as the 504 designee and Direct Instruction Facilitator. Julia then transferred to South Highlands where she is teaching Second Grade. She has also served for many years as a mentor for new teachers in LaTAAP. Over the years she has obtained many grants for activities to improve instruction in her classroom. She is a member of ADK, a teaching sorority. Julia and her husband Jay have one daughter. Julia enjoys cooking and reading

Lauren Woodward
Lauren has a bachelor's degree in Biology from LSU in Shreveport, with a minor in Chemistry. Lauren became aware of her passion for teaching as a cheerleading coach at Louisiana CheerNastics. She underwent an alternative cerification through the Caddo Parish School Board and began her journey as as an educator at Sunset Acres Elementary, teaching 4th grade math and science. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching cheerleading and spending time with her family. Lauren is very excited to be part of the South Highlands Family.

Sharon Parker
Sharon Parker graduated with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University and a M.Ed. with gifted certification from LSU-S. Sharon's teaching experience in Caddo Parish began in 1980. When her children were young, Sharon directed preschool programs in Shreveport and has worked with infants though fifth graders. She has taught fifth grade Gateway ELA at South Highlands since 2005 and is Student Council co-sponsor. Sharon and her husband Gary have three children: Jordan (and his wife Rikki), Lauren, and Adam. All three of their children attended South Highlands. In her free time, Sharon enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
